Got a Question? We’re Here to Help.
If you’re unsure about what’s causing damp in your home, how our treatments work, or whether you need a survey — you’re not alone. Here are some of the questions we’re asked most often. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, feel free to get in touch — we’re happy to help.
What areas do you cover?
We’re based in Wigan, but we cover a wide radius across the North West, including Liverpool, Manchester, Preston, Blackpool, Chorley, Bolton, Southport, St Helens, Skelmersdale and more. If you’re unsure, just give us a ring — we’re always happy to advise.
Do you offer free quotes?
Yes! We offer free verbal estimates over the phone or via our online enquiry form. If needed, we can arrange a home consultation to properly assess the issue. You’ll always get honest, no-pressure advice — no sales gimmicks here.
Do you install new damp-proof courses?
No — and here’s why: in most properties we visit, a damp-proof course has already been installed and is still working. The real problem is often poor ventilation, trapped moisture, or incorrect re-plastering. Instead of selling unnecessary treatments, we focus on fixing the actual cause.

What are the health risks of damp and mould?
Damp and mould can lead to poor indoor air quality, which may trigger or worsen asthma, allergies, sinus issues, and other respiratory conditions. Children, the elderly, and those with existing health concerns are particularly vulnerable. That’s why we specialise in Positive Input Ventilation (PIV) systems — to improve air flow and reduce airborne irritants.no sales gimmicks here.
What is a PIV system and how does it help?
A Positive Input Ventilation (PIV) system works by gently introducing fresh, filtered air into your home — reducing condensation, mould growth, and pollutants. It’s especially helpful for those suffering from asthma, hay fever, or other airborne allergies. Many of our customers across Manchester, Liverpool and the wider North West have noticed a big improvement in both air quality and overall comfort after installation.
Can you help with timber issues like dry rot or woodworm?
Absolutely. We’re fully trained in diagnosing and treating dry rot, wet rot, and woodworm in structural timbers and flooring. Early intervention can save you money and avoid major structural damage.
Do you work on commercial properties too?
Yes — while most of our work is domestic, we do undertake commercial damp-proofing and ventilation projects across the North West. Whether it’s a small business premises or a landlord portfolio, we can help.
How quickly can you respond in an emergency?
If you’re experiencing a serious damp or water ingress issue, we aim to respond as quickly as possible — often within 24–48 hours depending on location and availability. Call us directly for urgent assistance.
Are you insured and accredited?
Yes, we’re fully insured and proud members of Checkatrade, where we’ve built up over 121 verified reviews with an average rating of 9.9/10. Our work is trusted across the North West and always carried out to a high standard.
Real Feedback from Real Homeowners
Alan fitted a PIV unit some weeks ago but this stopped working yesterday along with the bathroom mirror. I contacted Alan and there was no hesitation in coming round to see what the issue was. In the end it was a loose electrical box done by an earlier contractor that was the problem and all is now fine. Would highly recommend
Alan arrived on the same day as my initial enquiry for help/advice with a damp problem. On inspection he discussed what the problem was, (condensation and not damp) how it could be rectified (with a PIV unit fitted in the loft) and what other additional measures could be put in place to ease the problem. He was very knowledgable on his 'subject'.
